Wander in the Rainforest on the Great Ocean Road

Did you know there is rainforest to explore on the Great Ocean Road? Make sure you take the time to immerse yourself in the lush green surrounds of the Otway National Park when you visit this iconic coastal drive.

The Great Ocean Road is a famous coastal drive, just over an hour’s drive from Melbourne. It is famous for surf beaches and sleepy seaside towns that come to life in summer. Not to forget the towering cliffs and lookouts of the 12 Apostles.

But what you may not know, is that part of the road winds through the Otway Ranges. These rolling hills are home to cool climate rainforest and towering eucalyptus trees. The Otway National Park provides great opportunities to immersed yourself in the lush green surroundings. And you will breath in possibly some of the freshest air in Australia!

There are a number of shorter trails providing great access, which we stop to visit on our Great Ocean Road tour. A walk along the trail leaves you refreshed and reinvigorated! Many guests are surprised to find such a unique landscape along the Great Ocean Road.

The Otway Rainforest is in an area that receives the highest annual rainfall in the whole State, which is perfect conditions for the ferns, trees ferns and Myrtle Beech trees to grow. These plants also benefit from the shaded canopy of the towering Mountain Ash trees above – the tallest species of eucalyptus.

Come and experience it for yourself on our Great Ocean Road tour – we can’t wait to show you the Otway National Park!
